William DeWayne (Billy) Geren, 59, of Georgetown passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on October 11, 2019, at his home, with his family by his side. He was born on May 28, 1960 to John DeWayne and Burnetta Hickman Geren in Bradley County, but spent his life in Meigs County and Chattanooga.
He joins in his heavenly home, his wife Nancy Carlisle Geren, his grandparents William and Vilena Hickman and C.L. and Lucy Geren; his mother-in-law Nancy Isabelle Carlisle; and his brother-in-law Ken Phillips.
He was of the Baptist faith, a Christian, and a friend to all who knew him. He was retired from Miller Industries in Ooltewah as a welder. He loved to collect guns, shoot targets, skeet’s, and get together with his family on Sunday’s. He loved his family very much and leaves a void in their hearts that will never be fulfilled until they meet again in Heaven. He also loved his little family dog, Buffalo. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and grandfather and will be sorely missed.
He leaves behind to cherish many happy and precious memories his two daughters, who were the light of his life, Rachel Alexandria (Doug) Wood of Franklin and Michelle Faith Geren of Georgetown; his parents DeWayne and Burnetta Geren of Georgetown; his two sisters Tammy Phillips and Sondra (Greg) Jennings both of Ooltewah; one nephew Matt Phillips of Ooltewah; a step grandson Trevor Wood of Franklin; and also his cousin and caregiver Faye Elkins. Many other special family members and friends also survive.
The Remembrance of Life service will be Monday, October 14, 2019 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend DeWayne Murphy and the Reverend Ken Purdee officiating. He will be laid to rest, Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., beside his wife in Johnston Cemetery in Meigs County with his longtime friends and family Frankie Millaway, Mitch Collins, Chuck McKenzie, Larry Cagle, Dylan Guill, and David Kennet serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association, 1466 Riverside Dr # D, Chattanooga, TN 37406, in Bill’s memory. The family would like to thank Hearth Hospice and the caregivers for taking such good care of Bill.
