William "Bill" Thomas Maxwell

William (Bill) Thomas Maxwell, 89, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at a Chattanooga hospital surrounded by his loving family.  He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, and had lived in the Cleveland area most of his life.  He served our Country as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army.  He was the owner of the Munford Home Improvement Center, and later retired from The Flooring Center in Cleveland.  Mr. Maxwell loved to hunt, and was a member of the Black Fox Ruritan Club.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Valera Miller Maxwell; parents, Ira and Ruth Maxwell; and brother, Ronnie Maxwell.

He is survived by his children, William Maxwell and wife, Lisa of Lumberton, NC, Kathy Maxwell Hixson of Cleveland, and Cynthia Maxwell Farris of Cleveland; grandchildren, Tommy Maxwell, Lindsay Farris, and Tristan Farris; great-grandchildren, Elliot Farris-Farmer, Penelope Farmer, and Lincoln Maxwell; sisters, Leila (Peg) Mace of Richard, VA, Mary Jo Maxwell of Bridgewater, VA; brother, Don Maxwell of Paris, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Waymond Cooper officiating.  Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery with Bob Quinn, Perry Suits, Tim Golden, Arliss Hannah, Darren Miller, and David Fisher serving as pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home on Monday, June 28, 2021.
