Willa Mae Palmer

Willa Mae Palmer, 95, a long time resident of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a member of the McDonald Road Seventh-day Adventist Church in McDonald, Tennessee. She was retired from McKee Foods, Inc. after 17 years of service. She was also involved in McKee Club and Bridgemakers.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Christopher Palmer; her parents, Willard Hedrick and Sally Mingus Hedrick; four sons, Danny Palmer, Roy Palmer, Joe Palmer, and Larry Palmer; two daughters, Brenda Palmer and Linda Palmer; and three brothers, Elmer Hedrick, Gene Hedrick, and Boyd Hedrick; and a sister, Ellen Woody.

She is survived by three children, Alvin Palmer, Sandra Hughes, and Calvin Palmer, all of Cleveland, and Shirley Gates of Brevard, NC; 14 grandchildren, Barbara, Trish, Greg, Autumn, Johnny, Rick, Heather, Christopher, Jeffrey, Brittany, Stacy, Josh, Keith, and L.A.; and a sister, Jane Neece. Several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren also survive.

A celebration of her life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Don Gettys officiating.  Interment will follow in Lee Cemetery in McDonald, TN, with Alan Wright, Ricky Sherlin, Julius Hughes, Mark Crisp, Jason Haans, and Kenny Geren serving as pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 at the funeral home prior to the service.
