Charles Wendell Richardson

February 20, 1932 — August 13, 2021

Charles Wendell (“Abby”) Richardson, 89, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021 in Cleveland TN. He was a founding member of Cleveland Cornerstone Church an inspector at Bowater, and served in the navy for four years. He loved his Braves baseball team, as he himself played baseball in the Navy as well as locally. Wendell was the son of Fannie Clayton and Charlie Richardson, and was the loving brother to Barbara Byrd. He has joined his wife, Donna Richardson, and his son Andrew Richardson in heaven. He left behind a daughter, Cindy Richardson, two grandchildren: Brook and Rachel Richardson, and two great-grandchildren, Alison and Jacob Cummings. Wendell loved to golf and fish when he was able, and would never pass up the opportunity to watch a game of baseball. All who knew him can attest to his sense of humor, overwhelming kindness, and most of all his love for his family. He will be dearly missed and forever in the hearts of those fortunate enough to call him friend. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 6:00 pm at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Herb Conley officiating. Interment be Thursday, August 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery with Jacob Cummings, Mitchell Barber, Jakob Jovet, C. J. Dills, and Alex Murphy serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
