Tracey Walker

December 22, 1969 — February 12, 2020

Tracey Dawn McConnell Walker, 50, of Cleveland passed away on February 12, 2020.  She is survived by her devoted husband, Todd William Walker, and her son Jackson Reid Walker, both of Cleveland.  Also surviving Tracey are her parents, Joyce and Sam McConnell of Cleveland; sister, Teresa Torbett and her husband Mickey Torbett of Cleveland; niece, Amanda Torbett of Chattanooga; mother- and father-in-law, Kay and Hugh Walker of Cleveland; and godparents, Kay and Neal Officer of Cleveland.

She graduated from Bradley Central High School and Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. She spent the majority of her career in banking and was employed by First Citizens Bank of Cleveland, Calvary Bank of Murfreesboro, and United Community Bank of Cleveland.  In addition, she was part owner of Universal Waste of Cleveland. She was an active member of First Baptist Cleveland, a long time member of Rodney Fitzgerald’s Sunday school class, and a special women’s Bible study group. Tracey was an active volunteer in her community through Junior Auxiliary, the American Cancer Society, as a Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, Chamber of Commerce Leadership Cleveland, and the Bradley Central High School’s Principal’s Advisory Council.

In 2002, Tracey received a cancer diagnosis that challenged her in the deepest places but also stirred her determination to live life to the fullest. As Tracey went to great lengths to fight her cancer physically, she also desired to grow spiritually and to understand God’s great love for her.  She recognized her ability to help those who were struggling and to offer them hope.  Her joyful smile amidst difficult trials encouraged all around her.  When diagnosed, Tracey expressed the desire to live to see Jackson graduate from kindergarten, but God gave her much more than that and allowed her to see him graduate not only from kindergarten, but from high school and as well as the ability to move him into his dorm in college.

Tracey’s greatest joy was to be with her family: the love of her life and husband for the last 26 years Todd, and her pride and joy, the center of her life and only son, Jackson.  Tracey is loved by a close knit family: her parents Sam and Joyce set an excellent example of what a loving marriage looks like and supported her through each phase of her journey; she shared laughs, tears, and everything in between with her big sister Teresa who was rarely far from her side; Mickey was more like a brother to her than a brother-in-law, and she sought his approval in almost everything; she was a fierce supporter of her niece Amanda, and loved her like a sister.  The family enjoyed many adventures in their travels together, spent countless days enjoying “God’s Country” at Parksville Lake, and preferred to spend time together rather than time apart.

The memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at First Baptist Cleveland, with Jordan Easley officiating.  A gathering of friends will follow the service from 2:00 to 5 p.m.  A private family interment will occur at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Jimmy Balmer, Mike Shaver, Tony Snyder, Alan Snyder, Brian Officer, and Kent Officer serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Generations Fund of First Baptist Cleveland at 1275 NE Stuart Road, Cleveland, Tennessee 37312.

We invite you to send a message of comfort and sign the Walker family guestbook at www.ralphbuckner.com.
