Thomas Everett Lynn “Tommy, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024 at his home surrounded by family who loved him very much.
Tommy is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Patsy Jane Lynn; five children: Tyrone Lynn, Mike Lynn (Melissa), Scott Lynn (Sonya), April Wengerd (Wayne), and Melanie Lynn; seven grandchildren: Neesa Douglas (Fletcher), Jessica Lynn, Brandon Wengerd, Shawn Wengerd (Michelle), Scott Lynn, Chloee Lynn (Taylor), Ethan Lynn, and 14 great grandchildren, and brother, Frank Lynn.
Tommy was preceded in death by his mother Chloie Lynn and daughter in-law Melanie Nazareta.
Tommy was a devoted husband, father, and papaw whose main concern was to always provide for his family. Once after being denied a job he refused to take no for an answer and told the interviewer he had five children to feed then joined the other workers on the floor, they then hired him.
He joined the U.S. Army at a young age proudly serving over 10 years which included two tours in Vietnam in combat zones volunteering for the second tour so he could provide extra income for his family back at home. While in Vietnam he was exposed to Agent Orange and ended up losing part of a lung yet he never complained or placed blame. He credited the military for teaching him about responsibility, loyalty, and devotion and he continued to carry those character traits through the rest of his life. After leaving the military he would eventually work for the U.S. Postal Service where he retired.
Even though he would say he never made it past elementary school he would later complete a two year degree in business administration while working a full time job,
Tommy had a good sense of humor and loved to tease his wife and family members and most times tolerated a practical joke being played against him. All of his children enjoyed it when he would ask them to help him with a project around his house. After retirement, one of his favorite things to do was sit under the wisdom tree in his front yard and talk with his friends and family about politics and current events.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 22nd, 2024 at 12:00pm in the Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cleveland chapel. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens at 1pm.
