Shirley Cagle

Shirley Shaw Cagle, born August 25, 1937, passed away at her home on Thursday, August 18, 2022 with her loved ones at her side. Shirley was a member of the Clingan Ridge Baptist Church and an avid supporter of the St. Jude and Shriners organization. Shirley loved to support every organization she enjoyed gardening. She retired as a long time employee of Hardwick Enamel Plant and Peyton’s Southeastern. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas “Farold” Cagle; parents, Hobson and Ruby Shaw; brother, Richard Shaw; and sister, Shelby Hamilton. Survivors include, her beloved daughter Tammy Cagle Green and husband Mike; grandson, Heath Green and wife Caren; great-granddaughter, Piper Green, who lit up her life; sisters, Beryl Cagle and Bonnie Belcher and husband Glenn of Tellico Plains; sister-in-law Lois Shaw Wayne and husband Larry of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Tellico Plains with Dr. Dennis Cagle and Rev. Grant Manley officiating. Grandson, nephews, and friends will serve as pallbearers. The playing of bagpipes will conclude the service. The family will leave in a procession from the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. going to the cemetery. The family of Shirley would like to thank the wonderful staff of Amedisys Home Health Care and Kindred Hospice for their superb care of her during this time. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2022, at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory.
