Sarah Adelia Tipton Park, 89, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021at a local healthcare facility.
She was born in Cleveland, and lived her whole life in the historic neighborhood of downtown Cleveland.
She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the last active church circle.
She was a proud graduate of the 1949 class of Bradley High School and the 49’ers had many class reunions over the years. Sarah also attended the University of Chattanooga, where she was a member of Chi Omega.
The most important thing in her life was family, and she was very proud of her children and grandchildren, and would have spoiled her great-grandsons, just like she did her family, always thinking of others before herself.
She had a unique gift that her outgoing personality allowed her to never meet a stranger. She was very well read and genuinely interested in many aspects of life from Broadway to Tennessee football. These interests blessed her with many friends of all ages.
She enjoyed and appreciated the finer things in life; she had a love for fresh flowers, cooking, the hunt for a good bargain, and taking adventurous trips to New York, San Francisco, and the beach with family.
She was known as “Mimi” to family and those who loved her the most.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Allie Tipton; loving husband of 57 years, Willis Park; and daughter, Sarah Wimberly.
She is survived by her sons, Jim Park, Douglas Park and wife, Cheryl; granddaughter, Sarah Jane Moore and husband, Chase, Taylor Park; grandson, Hobey Park; great-grandchildren, Charlie Moore, and Will Moore; several nieces and nephews also survived.
A celebration of her life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Broad Street United Methodist Church with Reverend Debbie Stokes and Reverend Mary Parson officiating. Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Dr. Paul Bacon, Scott Taylor, Allan Jones, Ricky Butler, Jeff Rentfro, Richard Banks, Dr. Tom Clary, and Roger Clary serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 11, 2020 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
A special thanks to the staff at Signature Healthcare in Cleveland for all their love and compassion. In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Congregational Care at Broad Street United Methodist Church at 155 Central Ave NW Cleveland, TN 37311, or the Foundation for the Cleveland Bradley County Public Library at 795 Church St. NE, Cleveland, TN 37311
