Sammie Goodner, 85, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday May 11, 2020 at Morningside of Cleveland.
He was born on July 15, 1934 in Meigs County Tennessee to the late Duster and Marie Goodner. He was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church and was a truck driver for Cleveland Express for 32 years. He loved fishing and supported the Casting Kids Program for City and County schools after retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Garrett Everett, brothers Steve and Denny Goodner.
He is survived by Mary Isabelle Cunningham Goodner, his loving wife of 67 years; His two Children, Keith E.(Tosha) Goodner of Cleveland and Kevin L. Goodner of Florence, KY; Grandchildren, Tyler (Brooke) Goodner of Cleveland, Nicholette (Michael) Henderson of Birchwood, Kyle and Emily Goodner of Florence KY; Great-grandchildren Isabell Autumn Goodner, Sammie Tyler Goodner and Tobias Goodner; Sisters Doris Caldwell of Cleveland, and Mildred Massey of Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday May 15, 2020 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Junior Burger officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Bradley County Bass Club members Roger Graham Jr ,John Clayton, David Marr, Dewayne Lowe, Tim Mullins, Larry Clayton. Honorary pallbearers are Roger Graham Sr. and Johnny Pickett.
A white dove release ceremony and playing of bagpipes will conclude the service. You may watch the service via live stream at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home’s Facebook page.
