Ruth Ann Cochran Burchfield, age 87, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. A devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, Ruth lived a life centered on love, family, and simple joys.
Ruth retired from Magic Chef, where she formed many lasting friendships. She enjoyed traveling, sharing meals at La Altena Mexican Restaurant, watching westerns and Wheel of Fortune, and spending quiet moments working puzzles. Her warm spirit, humor, and unwavering love for her family made her a constant source of comfort to those around her. Ruth was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed watching Hampton Drive Baptist Church online every Sunday.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe Pete Cochran and Ralph Burchfield; her son, Joe Pete Cochran, Jr.; grandson, Tanner Cochran; parents, Thomas and Nell Castelow; and siblings, Bill, Ralph, and Jerry Castelow, Henrietta Forester, and Shirley Yarbrough.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Diane (Jeff) Bramlett, Judy Cofer, Linda (Ralph) Haney, Debbie (Thomas) Bunch, Sharon (James) Brown; grandchildren, Shannon Cochran, Jeffrey Bramlett, Jr., Joey Bramlett, Brandon Bearden, Blain Bearden, Joby Haney, Casey Haney, Zack Bunch, Kelli Dale, and Katie Steels, along with a host of great-grandchildren, great – great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry her memory forward with love.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 28, 2025, from 4–6 PM at Poole Funeral Home, 3000 Ralph Buckner Blvd., Cleveland, with a funeral service to follow at 6 PM, officiated by Rev. Lee Ingram. Family and friends will gather Saturday morning, November 29, 2025, at 10:45 AM at Sunrise Cemetery in Englewood for interment at 11 AM.
