Robert (Bert) Alford

April 24, 1939 — August 2, 2020

Robert (Bert) Alford, 81, of Cleveland, passed away at his home Sunday, August 2, 2020 surrounded by his family.  He was born on April 24, 1939 in Biloxi, MS, and had lived in the Cleveland area most of his life.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.  He was a long time employee of Tarver Distributing Company.  He was an avid hunter and football fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Alford and Inez Felts Alford.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce Coleman Alford; one son, Robert “Scott” Alford and wife Teresa Ann of Cleveland; one daughter, Mildred “Darlene” Ledford and husband Tommy of Cleveland; one granddaughter, Brandy Daniel; three grandsons, Colby Alford, Andy Ledford, and Quinton Earwood; one sister, Sandra Hopkins and husband Dave of Biloxi, MS; seven sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; special neighbors, Jane and Harold Ziegler and Walter Vineyard; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with James Ledford officiating.  Lucky Ratledge, Ricky McNutt, Jason Lingerfelt, Barry Jenkins, Adam Jackson, and Quinton Earwood will serve as pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory.
