Richard Braddy, 90, of Cleveland passed away June 23, 2022. He was born May 31, 1932 in Galveston, Texas. Mr. Braddy served 4 years in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict as a radar technician. His most interesting assignment was 12 months in Greenland with 5 months on the Greenland Icecap. He was a member of American Legion in Cleveland. Mr. Braddy earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University in 1960 in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Braddy worked for 37 years with Olin Chemical Corporation retiring from there in 1997. Some of his greatest accomplishments at Olin were being a Project Manager for the Southeast Regional Engineering in Charleston; he installed the first RCAA system in Charleston, and installed the third reductone reactor in Augusta. Internationally he participated in HIP- Upgrade of RCAA System in Yugoslavia, developed a proposal for offshore HTH fry chlorinator plants, worked on the ethylene oxide/glycol facility joint venture in Venezuela, and assisted in the European electronic facility joint venture in Belgium, among many other major accomplishments with Olin Chemical Corporation. He was an active member of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joe Milton Braddy and Odette Yvonne Sailor.
He is survived by his wife Patsy Ann Braddy; children Sharon (Mark) Salsberry of Kennesaw, GA, Jay M. (Susan) Braddy of Dallas, GA, Ann (Bob) Dellinger of Dallas, GA, Lisa (Phil) Howard of Cleveland, and Cindy (Tim) Edwards of Cleveland; grandchildren Adam Salsberry, Andrew Salsberry, Hannah Bennett, Chase Austin, Chris Wolfe, Brooke Anderson, Brandon Edwards, Corey Harper ,Jayson Braddy, Brian Howard, and Paul Howard; and 21 great grandchildren; sister Elaine Yvonne Gangluff of Phoenix, AZ.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory, Monday, June 27, 2022 at 2:00pm with the Reverend Donnie Jenkins and Tim Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, with a white dove release ceremony and full military honors.
His family will receive friends Monday, June 27, 2022 from 12:00pm-2:00pm at the funeral home.
