Ralph Edward Barrett

Ralph Edward Barrett, age 82, of McDonald, Tennessee, departed this life on Monday morning, December 16, 2019 at the Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga.  He was born on July 10, 1937 to the late Henry and Ruby McElrath Barrett.  He was of Baptist faith, and he dearly loved and was devoted to his family and his animals.  He was retired from Bowater’s in Calhoun, where he was employed for 43 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruby Louise Turner Barrett; four daughters, Neasy Fitzgerald (Scotty) of Cleveland, Tammy Barrett with Tena Trotter of Fayetteville, GA, Jetty Buff of Cleveland, and Terri Scoggins of McDonald; one sister, Martha Bain of McDonald; nine grand-children, Lauren Shelton, Holly Jordan, Cori Young, Caley Jenkins, James Jordan, Heather Graves, Scarlett Buff, Hagan Scoggins, and Lydia Scoggins; fifteen great-grandchildren, Madison Scoggins, Haislee Scoggins, Abigail Jaggers, Taylor Smith, Lili Shelton, Eli Shelton, Averie Dill, Cadance Young, Fischer Young, Caydon Jenkins, Connor Jenkins, Cannon Jenkins, Braidon Hickman, Hunter Hastings, and Owen Buff; three nephews, Roger, Colby, and Tyler Bain of McDonald.

A Celebration of Life and Home-going will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2019 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Kenneth Scoggins officiating.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Hagan Scoggins, James Jordan, Roger Bain, Tyler Bain, Colby Bain, and George Shelton serving as pallbearers.  Melvin Buff, Scotty Fitzgerald, Josh Brock, Scott Uselton and Jacob Burger will serve as honorary pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
