Patricia Lorene (Eibeck) Thompson, better known to her family as “Grammy,” passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 18, 2023, in Bishop, Georgia. She was born on September 30,1930, in Wyoming, Illinois, and her departure from this earthly life leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
Grammy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold W. Thompson, her son Gerald K. Thompson, and her son-in-law Ronnie Conner.
While she is greatly missed, her memory lives on through her daughter, Patricia A. Conner, who will forever hold her mother dear. Grammy’s legacy extends to her cherished grandchildren: Brandi (Roger) Boles, Amanda Conner, Cori (Jerod) Brennen, and John (Lauren) Conner. Her love and guidance also touched the lives of her great-grandchildren: Cody (Alyssa) VanDyke, Madison (Zach) Reed, Beth (Riley Perone) Brennen, Lauren Yancey, Joel (Riley) Brennen, Tanner (Hailey) VanDyke, Samantha Brennen, Pierce Rowans, Quinn Rowans, and her great-great grandchildren, Natalie VanDyke and Alexis Reed.
During her working years, Patricia dedicated herself to the Caterpillar plant in Aurora, Illinois, where she later retired. In 1987, she made a significant move to Cleveland, Tennessee, from Aurora, Illinois. She found solace and community as a member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Cleveland. Grammy shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, known affectionately as Papa. Grammy had a special place in her heart for her two beloved cats, Julie and Maggie. In her leisure time, she embraced the art of crocheting, creating beautiful works of craftsmanship. Grammy possessed a thirst for adventure and enjoyed traveling extensively, having visited Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, various other European destinations, and all 50 US states.
Due to failing health, Grammy relocated to Rutledge, Georgia, in 2017, where she resided until her peaceful passing. Her compassionate nature, warm smile, and gentle spirit will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation, which will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home in Cleveland, Tennessee. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, where Grammy will find her final resting place.
As we bid farewell to Grammy, we take comfort in the memories we shared and the enduring love she bestowed upon us.
