Debra Joyce Kirkland

Debra Joyce Kirkland, 63, passed away at home Monday, September 7, 2020. She is survived by her parents, Emmett and Edna Earle Kirkland, her sisters Karen Kirkman (Ted and Emily) and Lyn Rushton (Ian, Colin, Chase, Chelsea), her daughter Jennifer Miller (Trey, Anna Claire, Madison), as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Everett Carter, Mickey Walker and Jimmy Gordan.

She was a graduate of Calhoun High School and attended Cleveland State Community College and the University of Tennessee. She was a life-long member of Calhoun United Methodist Church and resident of Calhoun. Throughout the years she taught dance, was an avid lover of antiques, held a real estate license and worked in the insurance industry. To all that knew her it was apparent that she had an immense love for animals and people. She especially adored horses and dogs.

Services were held Thursday, September 10 in the pavilion at Calhoun United Methodist Church. The Memorial Service began at 11:00 a.m., and the Reverend Hugh Bryan officiated. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Calhoun United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
