Margaret Ann McFarland

Margaret Anne McFarland, age 88, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. She retired from Charleston Hosiery (Renfro) after 34 years of service. She was a member of Way of the Cross Baptist Church. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. After being widowed at a young age, Margaret raised her three children by herself. Later in life, she remarried and was widowed a second-time years later. After retirement, she lived surrounded by her family for the rest of her life. Margaret always had a strong love for pets and rescued many dogs.

She was preceded in death by the father of her children Howell McFarland; second husband Winston Floyd; parents, Sheridan and Woody Evans; siblings, James, Delbert, Mary, Andrew, Samuel, Steve, Diane, and Dean Evans, and one grandchild, Kenneth Wayne Hitson.

She is survived by her children, Wayne McFarland (Rena), Sonia Hitson (Kenneth), and Donna Hitson (Mike Lawson); grandchildren, Jason, Chris, Danny, Matt, and Jeremy Hitson, and Wes and Zach McFarland; great-grandchildren, Jakob, Kylee, Tyler, Cole, Knox, Taylor Hitson (who she lovingly called “Teller Anne” and shared much time with), Austin and Dustin Fairbanks, and great-great grandchildren Peyton and Parker. She is also survived by her brother, Sheridan Evans Jr. (Debbie); special nephews, Dustin Pitman and Robbie Evans, and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved pet Daisy..

Visitation will be held at Poole Funeral Home at 3000 Ralph Bucker Blvd. from 5-8pm on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Daniel White, will be held in the chapel at the funeral home on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 11am, interment will follow the service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Copper Hill, TN.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hitson, Danny Hitson, Matthew Hitson, Wes McFarland, Mike Lawson, and Johnny McKinley. Honorary pallbearers: Ronnie McDowell and Terry Hudson
