Lindell Brumley

February 28, 1922 — May 25, 2024

Cleveland, Tennessee

After a long life richly lived in love and kindness, we sadly announce that Lindell Brumley, or known by most as “Granny,” age 102, peacefully left our world on May 25th, 2024, at home with loved ones by her side.

Lindell was born on February 28th, 1922, in Bruce, Mississippi to her parents Sethel and Lera Armstrong. Where she met and married Hiram Brumley. Then moved to Somerset, Kentucky and later became a resident and a figure of Cleveland, Tennessee, where Hiram and Lindell raised their two sons Jerome and Ledarral. Hiram and Lindell were married for 64 years.

At age 100, Lindell was presented with a proclamation from Tennessee’s State Senate as an “Honorable Tennessean.” This was presented to her by her grandson, former state senator, Mike Bell.

Lindell was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and especially a Granny.  She deeply loved her family and adored her grandchildren.   She influenced us all greatly.  As we all have our own stories and special memories to cherish.  Granny leaves behind a legacy of Love, Compassion, Patience, Warmth, and forehead kisses that will live on through her family and be deeply missed.

She was “Granny” to everyone that hugged her. She loved us all a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck. Thank You Granny for your unconditional love.

Mrs. Brumley was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Brumley; her parents, Sethel and Lera Armstrong; brothers, Dwight and Ruelle Armstrong; granddaughter, Monica Brumley; daughters-in-law, Brenda Brumley and Diane Brumley; a host of other family members.

Lindell is survived by her sons, Jerome Brumley and Ledarral Brumley; grandchildren, Lisa and Mike Bell, Duff and Dawn Brumley, Todd and Leah Brumley, and Kriston and Terry Henderson; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Priscilla Bell, Laura and Gilbert Lago, Zack and Anna Bell, and Rachael and Paul Wooten, Michaela and Shay Halcomb, Ashlin Brumley, Ethan Brumley, Connor Brumley, Brooke and Christian Davis, Justin Brumley, and Alex Brumley; Great-Great Grandchildren, Rory Bell, Maddie Bell, Caylor Bell, Baby Lago, Layla Wooten, Micah Wooten, Victor Wooten, Grayson Wooten, Archer Davis, Baby Davis, and Cooper Brumley;

The pallbearers will be Justin Brumley, Nathan Bell, Zack Bell, Ethan Brumley, Connor Brumley, Shay Halcomb, Gilbert Lago, Mike Bell, and Terry Henderson. Honorary pallbearer, Duff Brumley.

All the Grandchildren would like to say a special Thank You to Jerome for all the years and sacrifices you made to give exceptional care to Granny and Grandaddy. Your kindness, compassion and your unwavering dedication and genuine care was extraordinary and truly appreciated.

The family would also like to extend a special Thank You to all the caring staff at Hospice of Chattanooga’s Cleveland Team for their compassion and notable quality care for our Granny.
