Linda Faye Arwood Hatcher, 76, a resident of Benton, passed away peacefully at home on October 2, 2023. She was born in Sevierville, Tennessee and was a proud graduate of Sevier County High School, Class of 1965. Linda remained a lifelong learner, earning her Associates’ Degree at Cleveland State and Computer Aided Drafting Certification and reading her way through thousands of books. Linda followed her highschool sweetheart and husband, Warren, and his family to Benton to work their family’s Riverside Dairy Farm; she also completed 20 years with Maytag/Whirlpool. She and Warren lovingly adopted both of their children and opened their home to many others. Linda was a born-again believer in Jesus Christ and never failed to share her faith through service and love. She was a member of Benton Station Baptist Church where she served as Church Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher for 20 years; she was also a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church for 10 years, where she served in Crafters for Christ, a ministry that served through sewing blankets for others. Linda enjoyed many interests and hobbies, including teaching and making ceramics, sewing and quilting, cooking and baking, working puzzles, traveling, gardening, and most of all, spending time with her family. Linda lived a full and beautiful life that is best known by her love for serving others, her kindness and generosity, her strong spirit, and her unwavering trust in the Lord.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Johnie Lige Arwood; mother, Loma Hester Cook Arwood; husband of 49 years, Warren Harold Hatcher; brother, Dexter Arwood; sister, Velma Maples; and special nephew and “best bud,” Carl (Hoss) Maples.
She is survived by her sisters: Mildred Lundsford, Wilma Rogers, Ruby Davis, Edith Wilson, and Lena Reagan; children: Shane and Angie Hatcher and their children, Nicholas (Sarah) Hatcher and Sarah Hatcher; Mac and Olivia Hatcher and their children, Riley (Matthew) Wilson and Skylar (Johnathan) Brannon; great-grandsons, Damian Hatcher, Anderson Hatcher, Jacob Wilson, and Cooper Hatcher; special friends, Marie Cody-Peak and Judy McMahan. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home on October 6, 2023 with Pastor Larry Humbard officiating; pallbearers include Shane Hatcher, Mac Hatcher, Matthew Wilson, Johnathan Brannon, Adam Maples, Daniel Maples, and Jimbob Maples. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the funeral services immediately following. Internment will be the following morning at 10 a.m. at Benton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, 2035 McCrary Lane, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
