Kent Thomas Sharpton was born on February 6, 1944, and passed away on February 7, 2026, after just turning 82. Kent lived a full life marked by devotion, determination, and a whole lot of personality.
He was born to S.C. and Ruth Sharpton of Alabama, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Robert , S.C. Jr., and Allen Sharpton, all of Georgia, as well as his children, Michael Sharpton and Angie Sharpton-Strozier.
For 63 years, Kent was married to the love of his life, Evelyn (Bain) Sharpton. She was his first pride and joy, the anchor of his life, and the person he loved most fiercely.
Kent spent many years working at Keasler in Cleveland, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. Outside of work, Kent enjoyed watching boxing, fishing, visiting with friends, and was a proud gun enthusiast. He loved showing off his prized possessions to anyone who walked through the door and never missed an opportunity to share his opinions—Kent was famously opinionated, stubborn, and strong-willed, traits those who loved him wouldn’t have had any other way.
Second only to his devotion to his wife was his love for his great-children. You could often find him on the floor wrestling with Sam, where everyone agrees Kent met his match more than a few times.
Kent leaves behind his beloved wife, Evelyn Sharpton; his grandchildren, Shanna (Ernie) Corvin, Anna Sharpton, and Megan (Tyler) Sharpton; his great grandchildren; Ashtyn Corvin, Braelyne Ledford, Lydia Cross, Jayden, and Sam Mantooth and his son-in-law, Michael Strozier. His legacy lives on through their memories, laughter, and stories.
Kent will be remembered for his fierce love for family, his strong opinions, his stubborn streak, and the big heart behind it all.
At Evelyn’s request, please no flowers.
