Judy Maxine Poteet

February 4, 1940 — June 14, 2023

Judy Maxine Holmes Poteet

Judy Poteet, 83, a lifetime resident of Cleveland, passed away at home on

Wednesday, June 14, 2023. Judy was born and raised in the Flint Springs community

and attended Flint Springs School. She was raised on a farm with her loving mother

and father and seven siblings. They attended Flint Springs Presbyterian Church. She

met her lifelong partner, Arlen Poteet, as they grew up in the same valley and they

both graduated from Bradley Central High School as part of the storied class of 1957.

Judy married Arlen in 1958. Soon thereafter, the couple moved closer to the city. Judy

worked briefly at Hardwick Woolen Mills and Arlen started at Olin. A short time

later, a son and daughter were born, and Judy concentrated on raising the children and

their home life. They attended Northside Presbyterian Church. She was a wonderful

loving mother and wife that raised a successful family. Judy loved flowers, baking,

sewing, arts and crafts, spoiling her nieces and grandson, and being with her friends

and relatives. She was a beautiful person that loved, and was loved by all, and her

kindness was unparalleled. Many thanks to Accent Care Home Health, Amedisys

Hospice, and the special aides from home for all their care.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Arlen Poteet, and her parents, Jesse

and Ivy Poteet.

She is survived by her children, Phillip Anthony Poteet of Memphis, TN; Cynthia

Poteet Williams (Ronald) of Cleveland, TN; and, her grandson, Clinton Poteet of

Nashville, TN.

A celebration of her life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, 2023 in

the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Herbert Conley

officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. A white dove release

ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral

home, prior to the service.

We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Poteet family
