John A. Koeppen

April 26, 1936 — November 15, 2020

John A. Koeppen, age 84, of Cleveland, passed Sunday, November 15, 2020. John was born in Miami, FL, the son of Carl & Elizabeth Koeppen. He was married to his wife, Elaine Sattler Koeppen for over 61 years.

In Miami, John had been an electrician and high voltage cable splicer, through IBEW Local 349.He also belonged to the Biscayne Masonic Lodge. John also achieved notoriety in his donation of blood and plasma pheresis over the years, having donated well over 82 gallons. He also enjoyed working with Via de Cristo, His Hands Extended, a prison ministry in Bradley County, and the Gideon’s in sharing God’s Word. He supported The 100 Black Men of Bradley County, as well as donated to various schools and New Hope Pregnancy Center in Cleveland. He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Cleveland. He was a loving Christian, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

John is preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Deborah Lynn Koeppen.

John is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughter, Ramona Howard and husband, Keith; son Karl Koeppen and wife, Lynda; daughter Johanna Stoddard and husband, Troy; sister, Marian Thompson; four grandchildren: Marshall, Brian, Chevon, and John; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of his life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Seaton officiating.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service. Due to the National Pandemic the service will be live streamed on Ralph Buckner Funeral Home Facebook Page.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to New Hope Pregnancy Center in Cleveland, TN, or The 100 Black Men of Bradley County.
