Jerry Freeman

Jerry Freeman of Cleveland, TN went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at the age of 81.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents: Selous and Edith Freeman, his sister: Marie Queen, and his brothers: Lee, Gene, and Sam Freeman.

Jerry was survived by his wife, Shirley Freeman of 60 years. He was also survived by his daughters: Sandy Brown (Cleveland, TN), Melissa & Melvin Flowers (Cleveland, TN), and Rhonda & Chris Dodson (Loretto, TN), his grandchildren: Steven & Carli Brown (Louisville, KY), Taylor & Whitney Thompson (Cleveland, TN), and Laura Dodson (Loretto, TN), his great-grandchildren: Blakely Brown & Hudson Brown (Louisville, KY), Bryson & Brody Debruce, Ryder Parson (Cleveland, TN), his sister, Linda Gourley (Tellico Plains), many nieces & nephews, and his church family of many years.

Jerry was a faithful member and deacon at Georgetown Baptist Church. Anyone who knew Jerry knew that he was a loving father and husband. He loved fishing, hunting, and caring for others. Jerry served his community through Ocoee Outreach and Helping Hands for many years. He was a well-respected man and loved by many. Jerry will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, from 4-7 pm with a memorial service at 7 pm at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Reverend Leonard Castleman, Reverend Chris Dodson, and Reverend Steven Brown. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made for Gideon Bibles.

Interment is scheduled for Thursday, July 1, 2021, beginning at 11 am at Sunset Memorial Gardens: 7180 Lee Hwy Cleveland, TN 37312. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.   Ray Stephens, Aaron Hood, Kevin Felton, Chris Love, Scottie Peels, and Mark Pirkle will be the pallbearers. Leon Smith and the Men’s Sunday School Class at Georgetown Baptist Church will be the honorary pallbearers.
