Jerry Donald Franks passed away on April 19, 2024. He was born on January 17, 1941, in Winfield, Alabama.  Jerry honorably served in the United States Air Force for 26 Years including a tour in Vietnam. Never one to be idle, Jerry utilized his retirement to serve his community through literacy outreach and the Tape Ministry at First Baptist Church of Cleveland, TN.

Throughout his life, Jerry excelled academically, achieving a Masters Degree in Computer Science in his educational journey. Not only was he dedicated to his career and education, but he also found joy in hobbies such as traveling, Sudoku puzzles, fishing, and silversmithing in the Navajo tradition.

Described as a humble individual who never sought praise for himself and Jerry always ensured the well-being of his family, he was known for his passion for teaching others. He shared his knowledge by teaching Adult Literacy at O.A.R., leaving a lasting impact on those he tutored.

Jerry's proudest accomplishments included his time as a Silversmith apprentice and his dedication to literacy education. He also enjoyed working with children.   While stationed in Korea he acted as Santa to the local orphans.  Additionally, he served as a Girl Scout leader for his daughters.  His warm spirit and kindness will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Jerry leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda "Pug" Franks, and his children Cindy J. Franks and Leesa T. Franks; his brother Dwight Warren and his sister Susan Rebecca Warren and their respective families.  Among those who preceded him in death are his father Thomas D. Franks, his mother Esta Lee Corkren Warren, his step-father Ralph V. Warren, brother Roger D. Warren; as well as his mother-in-law Grayce C. Millican, affectionately known as "The Sandwich Lady."
