Janis S. Allen

March 2, 1939 — July 25, 2020

Janis Sue (Curtis) Allen, born March 2, 1939, ran into the arms of Jesus on the evening of July 25, 2020 surrounded by her family.

Janis loved her family, especially her devoted husband of 61 years, Forrest (Punkin) Allen; her loving daughters, Delisa Allen-Hartman (Dan) and Shelley May-Trentham (Billy); and her precious grandchildren, Haleigh May (Jacob Sherrill), Michael May (Annie Drews) Graham Hartman, Kyle Hartman, and Tate Trentham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Gladys Curtis; brothers-in-law, Delbert Cate and Gene Geren; and nephew, Tommy Geren.

Along with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren, she is survived by her sister, Betty Geren; brother, Terry Curtis (Elaine); sisters-in-law, June Cate and Sybl Allen; and brother-in-law, Clarence Allen, Jr.; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Janis will be most remembered for her faith in God and for showing the love of Jesus to her family, friends, animals, and everyone she met.  She was an active member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and prepared delicious meals.  She loved to cook, whether at the church, for her family, or in her 25 years spent in the Oak Grove Elementary Cafeteria, no one ever left with an empty stomach.  Although, she will be greatly missed, her family is resting assured she is singing praises in the Heavenly choir.

A celebration of her life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at Mount Olive Church of God with Reverend Ramon Torres and Reverend Chris Rouse officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

She will be interred at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, with Dan Hartman, Terry Curtis, Ed Dausy, Jacob Sherrill, Michael May, and Dustin Curtis serving as pallbearers.  Billy Trentham, Graham Hartman, Kyle Hartman will serve as honorary pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church’s Food Pantry or to the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund.

We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Allen family guestbook at www.ralphbuckner.com.

Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
