James E. Peck Sr.

James Elliott Peck, Sr., 78, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on January 11, 1942 in Madisonville, Tennessee to the late Elliott and Edna Sarah Tallent Peck.  The well-known owner of Cars of Cleveland, he was also a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church.  James was a loving and caring father and grand-father.  A devoted husband for 34 years to Carolyn Peck, he served in later years as her tender caregiver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn Mitchell Peck, and a beloved daughter-in-law, Ashley Dozier.

He is survived by eight children: James E. (Robin) Peck, Jr., of Cleveland, Sherry L. (Steve) Kirsche of St. Johns, Florida, Kimberly A. (Chris) Sylvester of St. Johns, Florida, John M. Peck of Louisville, Kentucky, Jayme S. (Leah) Burnett of Cookeville, Tennessee, Shelley M. (Roy) McCarter of Cleveland, Tennessee, Chris T. Norton of Decatur, Tennessee, and Andrea L. Norton of Decatur, Tennessee; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank (Shirley) Peck and Henry (Galina) Peck; and one sister-in-law, Gail (Robert) Finley.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2020 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Betsy Switzer officiating.  Interment will follow at Sewee Church of God Cemetery in McMinn County.  James Peck III, Hunter Ballew, Joshua Norton, Matt Goforth, Jordan Goforth, and Christopher Sylvester will serve as pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
