Jack Whaley, 88, of Dalton, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022, at a retirement community, surrounded by his loving family. Jack graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1952, and lived in the area most of his life. He was a member of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church, and was retired from the auto repair business.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Eda Whaley; two sisters, Nelle Whaley and Mary Ash; and a brother, Ernest Whaley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley Creasman Whaley; a daughter, Deborah Dixon and husband Jim of Summerville; two sons, Timothy Whaley and wife Sheila, and Keith Whaley and wife Debbie, all of Bartlett; six grandchildren, Paula Dixon, Matthew Dixon and wife Erica, Nicholas Whaley and wife Lana, Lauren Goodwin and husband Jeff, Chelsea Whaley, and Morgan Whaley; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Dixon and Pierce Dixon; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Mike Wallin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with his grandchildren serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the funeral home.
