Iva Joyce Alford

Iva Joyce Coleman Alford, 78, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020 in a local hospital surrounded by her family.  She was born on February 3, 1942 in Athens, TN, and had lived in the Cleveland area most of her life.  She was of the Baptist faith, and a retiree of Walmart with twenty-seven years of service.  She enjoyed gardening and was an avid Tennessee Vols fan.

She was preceded in death in August by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert (Bert) Alford; parents, Winfred Coleman and Mattie Goins Coleman; and four sisters, Norma Honeycutt, Naomi Chapman, Harriet Crowder, and Kaye Black.

She is survived by her children, Robert “Scott” Alford and wife Teresa Ann of Cleveland, and Darlene Ledford and husband Tommy of Cleveland; two grandchildren, Brandy Daniel and Colby Alford, both of Cleveland; six sisters, Ruth Ratledge, Thelma McNutt, Peggy Burger, Carolyn King, Johnnie Markland, and Phyllis Jackson; three brothers, Nelson Coleman, Donald Coleman, and Joe Coleman; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with James Ledford officiating.  Jason Lingerfelt, Barry Jenkins, Quinton Earwood, Chad King, Mark King, and Walter (Tater) Vineyard will serve as pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory.
