Gordon R. Akins

Mr. Gordon R. Akins, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away early Tuesday morning October 8, 2024, at Gentle Hands Personal Care Home following a brief illness. He was 76 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Poole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Pierce officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Akins was born March 15, 1948, in Hamilton County, TN to the late Birch and Bertice Cox Akins. Mr. Akins was employed for more than 30 years as a truck driver with Yellow Freight Systems.

Mr. Akins was preceded by his parents, his siblings, John Akins, Tommy Akins, Donald Akins, and Patsy Akins.

Mr. Akins is survived by his wife. Deborah Padgett Akins, Cleveland, TN; children, Laurel Waid Adkins, Tammy Kincannon, Joy Massengill, and Kyle Akins; grandchildren, Annalise Adkins, Amber Minton, Jessika Flinchum, Mason Massengill, and Hannah Massengill; great grandchildren, Cameron Minton; siblings, Bill Akins, Betty Reneau, Joyce Dupree, Geneva Pack, Helen Thompson, and Jacki Akins.
