Geraldine L Johnson

Mrs. Geraldine Le Meris Tate Johnson, passed away on Wednesday night, May 12, 2021 at a local nursing home. She was born in Reeves Station, Georgia on May 16, 1932. Her parents were Marvin Walter Tate and Mary Jane Burnett Tate. Geleraldine moved to Tennessee where she married Lawrence Elwin Johnson of Canandaigia, New York in 1952. Together they taught school at several locations across the South. At the time of her death, she was a long time member of the Ladd Springs Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Johnson; parents, Marvin and Mary Tate; brother, Winford Tate; sisters, Edith Waters, and Vera Minton.

She is survived by her sons, Don Johnson, Steve Johnson, and Chris Johnson; sister, Betty Weedman; and brother, Carl Tate.

A celebration of her life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021 with Pastor Paul Carlson officiating.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends from 2:00-3:00 on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the funeral home prior to the service.

Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery at a later date.
