Geraldine Hice

Geraldine Holden Hice, age 90, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Geraldine lived a life defined by love, resilience, and quiet strength. As a career military wife, she faithfully supported her husband throughout his service, embracing every move, every new place, and every challenge with grace. She and her husband, William Hice, shared 43 wonderful years of marriage.

Geraldine loved the outdoors—gardening, tending her flower beds, and watching the birds that visited her yard. Some of her happiest moments were the adventures she and William shared with their children, taking them “out to the boondocks,” walking through the woods, climbing trees, and picking muscadines and blackberries along the way. Those simple days became cherished family memories.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Hice; her parents, Willard and Annie Holden; her brother and sister; and her son-in-law, Dan Staples.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Ronnie (Telena) Hice, Gary (Marilyn) Hice, Evelyn (Jackie) Sexton, and Debbie Staples; her grandchildren: Chris and William Staples, Amber Massengill, Ryan Hice, Heather Hice-Kelley, Hannah Collins, Alexa Hice, Whitney Hall, Megan Carder, and Grace Ross; and her great-grandchildren: Tyler, Ayden, and Evan Staples; Aislyn and Abby Welch; Adelyn, Grayson, and Everly Carder; Jordyn Hall; Rowan Ross, Kynadey and Waylon Brown; and Ethan Hice.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Poole Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, where Geraldine will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.

Geraldine will be remembered for her warmth, her devotion to her family, and the countless beautiful moments she created with those she loved. Her legacy lives on in every heart she touched.
