Gerald Lee Jones, SR

Gerald L. Jones, SR. was born into his eternal life on Sunday, February 8, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Born to Ernest and Elizabeth Rush Jones in Cleveland, TN. He worked at various jobs throughout his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War Conflict during the years of 1970-1979. He was a truck driver for over 26 years, along with his wife, Joyce of 48 years. She was the love of his life. Together they enjoyed working on their farm the most with their grandchildren.

Gerald was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marylin Virginia “Jenny” Lee Jones; parents Ernest and Elizabeth Jones; his brother, Franklin Jones; and special aunt, Geneva Rush.

He is survived by his soul mate, Joyce Deborah Nagel Jones, Daughter Casey (Josh) Estes; son, Gerald Lee Jr (Tonya) Jones; son, Chris (Mary) Jones. Brother, Gary (Angie) Jones. Sister-in-law, Cathy Jones; Son in love, Alex (Crystal) Zipperer; special cousin, Betty Rush Darnell.

Grandchildren include Brandon Tate, Ginger (Derek) Helsdon, Cheyna Mooneyham, Aaron (Gabby) Zipperer, Andrew Zipperer, Skyler Jones, Casey “CJ” Jones, Viola “Lea” Jones, Julian Jones, and Jeri Jones.

Great Grandchild, Coraline Zipperer. Gerald also had numerous “honorary” grandchildren throughout his life. Special mention to: Lynda Brewer, Marcus Christensen, Cameron Davis, Christian Eaton, Leeland Christiensen, etc…

The family had opted not to have a memorial service at this time per Gerald’s request. There will be a Celebration of Life in June during the next family reunion. The family has also decided to have a Celebration of Life event in July for what would have been Gerald’s 76th birthday.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers or gifts, please take time to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
