George Basil Mowery

George Basil Mowery, 87, of Georgetown, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at his home.  He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.  He was a member of Elkmont Baptist Church. 

George was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene Bowman Mowery; parents, George and Bertha Mowery; son, Marty Mowery; and three sisters.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, George “Tyson” and Christi Mowery of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Madison Marie Mowery, James David Caleb Mowery, and Jesse Dale Taylor Mowery; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews and many friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Bill Griffith officiating.  Interment will follow in Beaty Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
