George "Butch" Stanley Clark

July 11, 1948 — August 17, 2020

Cleveland is mourning the loss of a devoted husband, father, and friend of the community with the passing of George Stanley “Butch” Clark, age 72.  Clark died at his home in Cleveland on Monday, August 17, 2020.  He was a lifelong resident of Bradley County, son of the late Celotes and Jean Clark, and brother of the late Waylon Clark.  He grew up at Candies Creek Baptist Church.

Clark owned a real estate appraisal business for many years.  He spent his later working years at Southern Heritage Bank until his retirement.  In all of his work, he was driven by a deep dedication to serving others.  His commitment to service was evident through his time in the Army National Guard as a young man, as well as his community service work with Cleveland organizations including the Civitan Club.  A man of deep faith, Clark also served for many years as part of the Emmaus Walk fellowship and traveled on mission trips to Central America.  Friends and family across the community will be sure to miss his affable smile, his friendly demeanor, and his generosity.

Clark is survived by his wife, Lisa Ehler Clark; his daughter, Karen D. Gilbert (Kris); and granddaughters Ryah Gilbert and Bailey Gilbert of Cincinnati, OH.  He is also survived by five step-children, Alison Douglas (Jonathan) of Cleveland; Bethany Sothard (Michael) of Cleveland, Cara Berry (Chris) of Cleveland, Alex Stephens (Hannah) of Nashville, TN, and Benjamin Stephens of Cleveland; seven step-grandchildren, Cade, Atalee, and Mason Douglas, Paxton, Parker, and Emmarie Berry, and Macie Sothard.

A celebration of his life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2020 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

You may watch the service via live stream at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home’s Facebook page.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Clark family guestbook at www.ralphbuckner.com.
