Freddy Eaves, Sr., age 67, a resident of Calhoun, TN, passed away peacefully Friday, December 31, 2021 in Cleveland, TN. He was a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church. Freddy was a graduate of Calhoun High School. Freddy was known for his sense of humor, contagious laugh, and his ability to be a friend to anyone he encountered. Freddy was a standout athlete in his youth and competed in basketball and baseball for Calhoun High School. He also practiced Isshinryu karate under the Master Harold Long lineage. The best word to describe Freddy is fearless. He never met a challenge he did not feel he could overcome. He lived his whole life in Calhoun, and he was best known for operating Black Jack’s Truck Wash as well as his produce stand at the end of Old Hwy 11. Freddy loved his family and friends dearly, and he truly had a heart for others. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. John 16:33 states “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, and that is a truth that Freddy would want us to recognize and hold onto.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Kenneth Eaves, Sr., and Melissa Ruth Davis Eaves; uncle: Felmet Leonard (Junior) Eaves, and his brother, William Kenneth (Kenny) Eaves, Jr.
He is survived by his children: Dr. Fred (Kristy) Eaves, Jr., of Thompsons Station, TN, and Natasha Wheeler of Oak Island, NC; brother: Jon D. Eaves of Calhoun, TN; grandchildren: Layla Wheeler of Oak Island, NC, Savanna (Ben) Hickman, Dayton, TN, Grant (Katelynn) Allen of Chattanooga, TN; great grandchildren: Reagan Hickman of Dayton, TN, and Tate Hickman of Dayton, TN; nephews: Eric (Wendi) Morris of Orlando, FL, Kenneth (Brandy) Calton of Calhoun, TN; niece: Alisha (David) Osborne of Charleston, TN; cousins: Mac Allen Jones, as well as many other loving cousins throughout the Eaves and Davis families. It is only fitting to include his dog, Itty Bitty Eaves, in his list of survivors. Freddy loved Itty Bitty dearly, and she will remain in the family and be well taken care of in his honor.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022, in the Calhoun First Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Toby Brogden officiating. Pall Bearers for the service will be: Eric Morris, Richie King, Timmy Goins, Travis Farris, Coy Harbison, Kenneth Calton, & Scottie Burns. The Eaves family would like to give a special thanks Tom Donegan, Coy Harbison, Glenda Rummel, and Scottie Burns for their generous help during Freddy’s sickness over the past couple of years. We could not have managed without you, and we are eternally grateful. The family would also like to give special thanks to Dr. Ahmad Ibrahimbacha, Dr. An Tran, Dr. Lisa Verostek, Keith Kidd, FNP-BC, and Brandy Calton for helping with Freddy’s medical care this past year.
