Frances Tucker

Frances Ann Tucker passed away on Monday, January 10th, 2022, at her home in the Garden Plaza in Cleveland, Tennessee.  Her passing was peaceful with family in attendance.  Fran was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1932.  She was married to Colonel James (Jim) Henry Tucker for almost 60 years.  Fran met Jim in Savannah when she was 19 and they started their life’s adventure soon afterward. They were stationed in Newfoundland initially followed by Georgia, England, California and Nebraska. Upon Jim’s retirement from the Air Force in 1970, Fran and her family moved to Cleveland, Tennessee to begin s new life. Fran and Jim were a team putting their complete support behind the Cleveland Boy’s Club and later Habitat for Humanity. While Jim was the front person, Fran was heavily involved in support of all Jim’s efforts in the Cleveland community. At the same time Fran gave her all to raising her 4 sons with an unselfish love that only she could give them.

Fran and Jim were longstanding members of Broad Street Methodist Church in Cleveland. Fran was active in support of her family’s many outdoor activities including sports, camping and traveling.  She learned to play tennis, she fished she even played catch if Jim was unavailable. The Tucker family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the Cleveland community for allowing Fran and Jim many expressions of love and support. They especially want to call out Garden Plaza and Helping Hands for the incredible love and care given to Fran and Jim in their later years.

Fran was preceded in death by husband Jim, her son Fred; granddaughter, Keri; sister Liz ; and brothers Charles, Bobby and Jimmy.

She is survived by; sons Tom and wife Gigi of Cumming, GA, Bob and wife Amy of Moorsville, NC, and Jim and wife Sheppard of Knoxville TN; grandchildren, Jennifer Ann, Laura Elizabeth, MaryBeth, Robert Hamilton, Katie Ann, Nathan Andrew, and Alexandra Rose Tucker; 8 great grandchildren and also several nieces and nephews. Also, by her sister Pam and brother Gilbert of Savannah.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 14, 2022, at 12:00 noon. A small gathering of family and friends will begin at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and then move to a gravesite service at Hillcrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland or Helping Hands Homeless Fund.
