Elizabeth Elwana Yeary

Elizabeth Elwana Wilson Yeary, 98, a resident of Hixon, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at a health care facility.

She was born on June 01, 1922 in Coalfield, Tennessee, and has lived in Tennessee most of her life.  She was a homemaker for most of her life, and worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratories during World War II. In years past, she enjoyed bowling, square dancing, golfing, and playing bridge. In recent years, she enjoyed going to the Cleveland Senior Center and enjoyed making new friends.  She was a member of several groups including Calico Squares, American Legion, and the Elks Club. 

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mamie Wilson; loving husband Robert Yeary; daughter Virginia Yeary Ferguson; and brother Jimmy Wilson.

She is survived by her son Robert Yeary and wife Mona; sisters Martha Wilson and Faye Albertson; grandchildren Robert Douglas Yeary and wife Whitney, Olivia Carlisle and husband George, Allison Shuford and husband Randy, Danny Ferguson and wife Linda, and Jonathan Hesterly; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the heroes who work at Dominion Senior Living of Hixson for their compassion and care. The family would also like to thank Josh with Hearth Hospice for his devotion and care provided to Mrs. Yeary.

A celebration of her life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2020 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Jim Gibson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
