Dr. James David Miller

June 1, 1923 — February 7, 2021

Dr. James David Miller, 97, of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021at a local hospital. After graduating with a degree in Optometry from Northern Illinois College of Optometry, he served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from1944-1945. After his tour of duty, he married Ruth Mann Miller of LaGrange, GA, they were married for 68 years, and were members of Community Church at Bristol in Bristol, TN.  Dr. Miller worked at Chappel Hamrick for 17 years before going into his own private practice for 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; parents, O.S. Miller and Norvelle Miller; and sister, Mildred Davis.

He is survived by his children, J. David Miller Jr. and wife, Esther of Charleston, West VA, Diane Taylor and husband, Dr. Robert C. Taylor of McDonald, TN, Malcolm Lee Miller and wife, Pam of Greensboro, GA; grandchildren, Alan C. Taylor and wife, Melanie of Hanover, NH, J. Brian Taylor and wife, Paige of Portland, ME, Daniel Lee Miller and wife, Chandler of Atlanta, GA, and Tony Cochran of Charleston, West VA; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survived

A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Reverend Beni Slaton officiating.
