Dorothy Mae Cartwright
Dorothy Mae Carroll Cartwright, 88, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 in a local hospital. She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church and attended Berean Baptist Church in Old Fort, TN. She had worked at Cleveland Chair Company as an upholsterer. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Her passions were sewing, quilting, and flowers.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Charles “William” Cartwright; parents, Edward Carroll and Cordie P. Alloway Carroll; and four siblings, Wayne Carroll, James Carroll, Clarence Carroll, and Tunice Young. Dot had many healthcare givers she loved like family. Rose and Serita were like daughters. She loved all her caregivers and the caring staff at Avail Assisted Living.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Hawkins and husband Edward of Old Fort, TN, and Wilma Dailey and husband John of Calhoun, TN; six grandchildren, Christopher Dailey, Kristy Fowler, Tiffani Dailey, Anthony Dailey, Jeffrey Hawkins, and Molly Smith; 17 great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Milsaps, Logan Fowler, Kylie Fowler, Titus Fowler, Uriah Lang, Isaiah Cantrell, Aubrielle Dailey, Logan Smith, Blake Smith, Kayla Hawkins, MyrandaTuten, Alex Hawkins, Matthew Gossett, Haylee Gossett, James Hawkins, Alyssa Hawkins, Spencer Young; nine great-great-grandchildren, Charlie Milsaps, Dimitri Hawkins, Airiana Hawkins, Arya Hawkins, Issac Tuten, Teagan Tuten, Jackson Tuten, Heidi Tuten, and Kobe Tuten. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of her life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Wagner and Reverend Sammy Hughes. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Alex Hawkins, Logan Smith, Jeff Hawkins, Christopher Dailey, Titus Fowler, Greg Young, David Young, and Deken Fowler serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the funeral home.
