Donnie Raymond Tanksley

Donnie Raymond Tanksley, 76, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at his home.  He was a member of Everlasting Gospel Tabernacle and loved singing in church.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a loving husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Evelyn King Tanksley; daughter, Janet Tanksley; brother, Roger Tanksley and sister, Linda Faye Tanksley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janey Scoggins Tanksley; three children, Lorri Green, Christina George (Troy) and Stephen Gates (Teresa), all of Cleveland; six grandchildren, Brenden Gates, Timothy George, Michael George, Heather Sage, Shawn Maxwell and Tabitha Haddock; brother, Charlie Tanksley; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Johnny Staton and the Reverend Homer Roberts officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery with Bo Maxwell, Maurice Gates, Lawrence Gates, Pete Gates, Paul Woodward and George Gates serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony concluding the service. 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2019 at the funeral home.
