Donald Eugene James, age 63, of Dalton, went to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, March 30, 2024. To say he was of the “Baptist Faith” would be an injustice. Donald was a true “Man of God” who lived a life pleasing to the Lord. Humble, gentle, meek, and mild was his character. He was an ordained Deacon and served the Lord in many local churches for numerous years. He was extremely knowledgeable in the Word of God and taught Sunday School every Sunday until he went to TX for cancer treatment. He would talk about how good Jesus had been to him to anyone that would listen. “His plan is the best plan” was what he would always say no matter what was happening. His unwavering faith was something he never talked openly about but if you met him, you couldn’t help but see it in him. He loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, hiking, and kayaking, he also loved carving, woodworking, doing magic tricks and birthday parties for kids and adults alike with his late wife Barbara. Most of all he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He never gave up the faith and called on HIS name until his last breath. He was employed with Harcros Chemicals for 43 years. He was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed.
Saturday, he was reunited, in the presence of the Lord, with his loving wife, Barbara Owens James; parents, Rev. Gene and Polly James; grandfather, Delmer James; step-grandfather and grandma, Charlie and Maude Boyd Peden; grandpa and granny, Albert and Pearl Parish Franklin.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Angie James, Rickey and Sherry James and Keith James; nieces and nephews, Brandi and Justin Holden, Candi James, Brittany and Michael Land, Zack James, Nora and Ava James; aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and countless friends.
The James family would like to say a special thank you to his Little Prospect Baptist Church family, his Rice Temple Baptist Church family in Houston, TX, and AdventHealth Gordon Hospital for all the special care, love and support they have shown during his battle with cancer.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon ~ 6:00 PM on Saturday, April 6, 2024, and Sunday, April 7, 2024, from 1:00 PM ~ 3:00 PM at Little Prospect Baptist Church, 8347 Hwy 2, Dalton, GA 30721. A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Little Prospect Baptist Church with Pastor Keith James officiating. Interment will follow in Fairy Valley Cemetery.
