Devoy “Don” William Terrell, Jr., 84, a resident of Bradley County, Tennessee, for more than 60 years, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at his home in Cleveland. Don was born August 4, 1941, in Burlington, North Carolina, to the late Devoy W. and Pearl Phillips Terrell.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army at 18 years old and was honorably discharged. Don worked for more than 30 years at Georgia Pacific as a dye mounter. He was responsible for the layout of the lettering and logos for printing. He was an avid music lover and collected records for most of his life. Some of his favorite songs were sung by Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, Merle Haggard, and Hank Williams, Sr. Don was also a huge fan of NASCAR racing and loved tuning in to races on the radio and TV.
He married Mary Kirby in 1966. They welcomed their son, David Brandon Terrell, in 1973. Don and Mary Terrell divorced when Brandon was 11. Don did not remarry.
He is survived by David Brandon Terrell (Micca) and two grandchildren, Zoe Madeline Pearl Terrell and Kirby Forrest Lee Terrell.
Also surviving is his sibling, Hilda Beck Andrews (David), and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Don Terrell’s longtime neighbor and friend, Natalie Goff, who has been his caregiver during this difficult time.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Poole Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Wickes. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am prior to the service. Interment will be held following the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
