Daniel Kevin Hughes

Daniel Kevin Hughes, 67, of Ithaca, New York, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2025. A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, veteran, and man of deep faith, Daniel’s life was marked by kindness, conviction, and unwavering love for his family and his Savior. Born on April 19, 1958, in Ithaca, NY, Daniel served honorably in the United States Air Force before beginning a long and dedicated career in quality control at Maytag/Whirlpool Corporation, where he worked for 18 years. Daniel was a lifelong New York Yankees fan and never missed a game if he could help it. He was also a scholar and a minister, holding a master’s degree in theology. His greatest calling was sharing the Gospel and reminding those around him of the love of Jesus. He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Hughes; his two sons, Joshua Hughes and Joseph Hughes; his cherished granddaughter, Emma Hughes; and his sisters, Stacy Hughes and Susan Tuttle. He is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Ward; his father, David Hughes; and his brother, David Hughes Jr. Above all, Daniel wanted his family to know that they were deeply loved—by him and by Jesus Christ. 

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, at Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cleveland, 3000 Ralph Buckner Blvd., Cleveland, TN.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at Poole Funeral Home with Brother Mike Ferree officiating.  Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
