Cheryl Darlene Smith Coffman, 77, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022 at her residence in Charleston, Tennessee. She was born on October 5, 1945, in Middleboro, MA, to Bob and Beverly Smith.
She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church for 23 years, where she taught Sunday School and Awanas, showing her love for young children. Her greatest inspiration was her family and her greatest challenge was teaching.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Douglas Coffman; brother, Eugene Wayne Smith of Decatur, TN; children, Jason Sandidge and wife Jennie, Joanna Lewis and husband Glen, and Joel Sandidge and wife Keshia; her blended family, Deborah, Sheryl Kay, and Gregory; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.
A celebration of her life will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022, at Westwood Baptist Church with Reverend Wayne Finnell and Dr. Gloria Westerfield officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the service at the church.
A committal service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pat Obryan, Glen Lewis, Greg Coffman, Hunter Coffman, Caleb Sandidge, Michael Mertens serving as pallbearers. Malachi Sandidge will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
