Charles Taylor Farmer, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully at the home he resided in over 70 years on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Charles was born on January 1, 1924 in Georgetown, TN to Almer E.“Pap” and Dovie (Stevison) Farmer. Charles had worked for 30 years at Hardwick Stove Company before retiring. Charles was also known for his countless years of volunteering at the Senior Center of Cleveland. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 64 years Leatrice (Cartwright) Farmer of Cleveland, four brothers, John Ellis Farmer, Johnny P. Farmer, Robert D. Farmer, Herman H. Farmer, and three sistersKate Farmer, Dorothy ‘Dean’ Pendergrass, and Shirley Mae Long.
Charles is survived by three brothers Donald L. Farmer and wife Sheila of Cleveland, Jimmy E. Farmer and wife Elouise of Georgetown, and James A. Farmer of Georgetown, and his two sisters Mary ‘Louise’ Balde, and Evelyne F. Benson of Georgetown, along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at Poole Funeral Home of Cleveland at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 8, 2025 with the Reverend Jeannie Cissom officiating. Interment will follow at Johnston Cemetery in Meigs County. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Charles’s family would like to thank the staff from Hospice of Cleveland, along with neighbor’s who became like family Donna Millard and Roger Taylor. A very special “Thank You” goes to Donna (Farmer) McAlister and husband Keith for their tireless hours of unmeasurable compassionate loving care and unwavering years of unconditional love and devotion.
