Carroll Nelson Guhne, 86, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was born in Chattanooga but has lived in Cleveland for more than 60 years. He was a graduate of DeKalb County High School in Fort Payne, AL, and the University of Tennessee where he received a degree in electrical engineering. He was a retired Captain and 21-year veteran of the U.S. Air National Guard. He retired from TVA in 1989 after 30 years of service. He was an active member at Central Church of Christ in Cleveland serving as a deacon and elder.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emily Jane Guhne; father, Richard H. Guhne; mother, Mamie L. Samples Ashberry; step-father, Lloyd Ross Ashberry; and brothers, Gene Guhne and Dale Guhne.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Brown Guhne; four sons, Mark Nelson Guhne and wife Kelly of Hixson, TN; Richard Bradley Guhne and wife Barbara of Toms River, NJ, Jeffrey Ross Guhne and wife Samantha of Tampa, FL, and Rodney D. Willis and wife Barbie of Cleveland; two grandchildren, Sarah Dobbs and husband Cory of Cleveland, and Steve Guhne of Knoxville; three great grandchildren, Zachery, Hunter, and Aria Dobbs; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Central Church of Christ in Cleveland with Minister Wayne Miller officiating. The church will live stream the service on their website. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
