C. L. Cook

C. L. Cook, a resident of Cleveland, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 30, 2021. He was born to the late Day Cook and Maggie May (Burnette) Davis in Etowah, TN on May 1, 1934. C. L. was an accomplished furniture builder and supervisor for Collins Furniture Company for many years, retiring to enjoy spending time with his wife “June Bug”, fishing, listening to George Jones, and enjoyed being a lifelong Tennessee Vols fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Thyra June Sliger Cook; and siblings: James Allen Cook Sr., Eula Mae Ledford, Rosa Roberts, Herman “Bud” Davis Sr., Paul Davis, R. J. Davis, Clayton Davis, and Essie Cook.

He is survived by 8 children and spouses: John W. and Tracy Cook, Alan R. and Rose Cook, David L. and Kathy Cook, Rebecca Cook Goad, Sandra J. Cook Spence, Robert D. and Anna Cook, Jeffery L. Cook and Stephanie M. and Dale Clark, all of Cleveland; 15 grandchildren: John Mitchell, Christopher L., Jeremy, Brandon, Richard, John Mark, Justin, Christopher, Jacob, Stephen, Tosha, Trent, Tanner, Bradley, and Naaman; and  9 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Lyrik, Taryn, Jensen, Jayden, David, Matthew, Samuel, Naomi; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2021 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral home with Reverend Kevin Teague officiating.  Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in McDonald, TN, with Trent Miller, Tanner Miller, John Mark Spence, Justin Spence, Chris Cook, Richard Goad, Jeremy Cook, Brandon Cook, and Christopher Cook serving as pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2021 at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
