Betty Scott

Betty Scott, age 89, of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022. Betty had many talents. She originally worked for Coppinger Color Lab and then owned her own business called, Betty’s Gallery. It was the second largest background company in the SE. She taught Sunday School for decades at Evening Light Gospel Tabernacle, and before that, worked in Children’s Ministries in Florida with her husband, John. Betty was part of a female trio singing group in church, and she made pies for Country Side Café. Over the years, Betty painted many baptistries, murals in homes, and by request, would paint a special picture for anyone who asked. God blessed her with gifts that she loved sharing with others. Her loving husband John describes her as the love of his life and the most perfect wife anyone could ask for.

She was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Lura Geren; sisters, Mary Love Carden (Charles), Bobbie Rose Geren, and Lucille Dixon (C.L); and brothers, Haven Geren (Irene), Coy Geren, Earl Geren, Herman Geren, and Ponder Geren (Alta).

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, John Scott; sister in laws, Tee Geren and Doris Webb; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many friends.

A celebration of her life will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Interment will follow to Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Billy Yerbey, Joseph Yerbey, Joshua Ridgeway, David Geren, Daniel Geren, and Caleb Tatum serving as pallbearers. A White Dove Release Ceremony and the Playing of Bagpipes will conclude the service.
