Betty Joyce Miles

Betty Copeland Miles, 81, entered the arms of Jesus on June 13, 2021, while surrounded by her family. We know she is filled with joy to be reunited with her beloved husband, Bruce Miles, who we are sure has already taken her fishing.  She was born in West Palm Beach on November 12, 1939 to Robert and Roberta Copeland.

Mrs. Miles taught school for 40 years in Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee, with 25 of those years teaching for Cleveland City Schools. She was a dedicated teacher who loved working with children. Former students and colleagues remember her fondly.

Betty was a faithful member of the North Cleveland Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. More than anything, she loved her son and family. She always wanted to do for others, and had a quiet, gentle, and sweet spirit about her. We will miss her every day until we are reunited.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Miles; parents, Robert and Roberta Copeland; and granddaughter, Laura Beth Miles.

Betty is survived by her son, Greg Miles and wife, Melissa; grandsons, Bryce Elliott, Ben Miles, and Nicholas Hobbs; brother, Dick Copeland and wife, Brenda; nephew, Rob Copeland and wife, Lisa; and niece, Anne Copeland.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral home with Reverend Jay McCluskey officiating. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 18, 2021 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Coward, SC.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
