Arlie Benson Green

Arlie Benson Green, Sr., age 88, of Cleveland, passed away July 26, 2022,  surrounded by his loving family at his home.  He was a member of Eagles Chapel Church.  Arlie was a golden gloves boxing champion and he was a veteran of the Korean War.  He was a jail house Minister for 18 years in Athens. Arlie was a great man of God and loved his family more than life itself. 

Preceded in death by his wife Patsy Ruth Green; sisters, Wilma McCord, Mildred "Bobbie" Green, Janey Espy, Rachael Marler; brother, Calvin Green.

Survivors include his children, Teresa Gail Shadwick and Arlie Green, Jr; grandchildren, Scott Varnell, Ashley Harris (Anthony),Whitney Myka Scoggins;  great grandchildren, Madeline Ruth Hixson (Bryce), Abigail Maci Varnell; great – great grandchildren, Jayden Scoggins, Gabriel Kain Moffett, Stella Jade Harris; sister, Martha Hall of Cleveland; many special friends, Paul Seigler (Judy), Betty McKenzie, Wendall Trammel,  Jimmy Brown, Ronnie Staton (Barbara) and Hoyett McKenzie (Kelly).

Funeral will be Friday, July 29, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Serenity of Cleveland Funeral Home with Reverend Johnny Staton and Reverend Steve Simpson.

Family will receive friends from 12:00 – to 2:00 prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Mount Olive cemetery.
