Alvin “Al” M. Sandberg, of Cleveland passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026, at his home.
Al earned his Doctor of Pharmacy at a young age and owned a pharmacy in Rochester, New York. He later became a licensed commercial real estate agent in Florida, where he helped open large shopping centers. Al also spent many years working as a respected consultant pharmacist.
Al exhibited intelligence, determination, a zeal for learning and palpable energy. He was a skilled photographer enjoying wildlife photography most of all and made numerous trips to Africa.
He dearly loved his four dogs: Charlie, Luna, Sadie, and Winnie and found laughter and comfort in their presence.
Al is preceded in death by his grandson, Chad Sandberg and brother, Carl Sandberg.
Al is survived by his wife of 24 years, Lydia Elise Sandberg; daughters: Judith Sumislawski (Joe), and Jayna Walker (Chuck); sons: Michael (Regina), David (Barbara), and Gary (Betsy); grandchildren: Stacey Sandberg, Carrie Lynn Sandberg, Joshua Sumislawski, Kate Wood, Rachael Walker, Jason Walker and Jessica Walker; two great grandchildren: Caleb Laliberte and Hannah Jane Wood. Al is also survived by one sister, Gail Walker (Tony) and numerous nieces and nephews.
